September Newsletter 2016

September President’s message

This month is slipping by fast. The fair has passed and there was reported snow in Yellowstone. The sporting clays group had their final Fun Shoot Saturday, the 10th of September with over 28 participants. Many traveled long distances to participate and enjoy the 4 Fun Shoots we had this summer, with shooters coming from Montana, Hailey, Island Park, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello as well as locally.
Saturday was not only the last Fun Shoot, but also the drawing for the Browning 725 Sporting Clays shot gun raffle. The lucky winner was James Martin.     Congratulations, James!!!
The sporting clays course has been removed in preparation for the 5-Stand course. The 5-Stand building is getting close to completion. Hunting season is coming upon us with many members getting ready. The 24th of September will be our club’s Sight- In- Day and members and non-members are encouraged to participate. If you would like to volunteer to help, please call Chris at 681-3584 and she will schedule you for either a morning, 9AM-12:30PM time or afternoon, 12:30-4PM time slot. This coming Saturday, the 17th, will be our Member Appreciation BBQ. If weather permits, it will be held on the grass by the trap range. If the weather is not permitting, we will have it in the clubhouse. We are having roasted pork. Please bring a side dish to share. This is for all members and their families. Please call Allison Geisler at 403-3319 to tell her how many from your family will attend.

Minutes of Sept. 7, 2016
Board members present: Jed Taylor, Terry Hansen, Rod Cross, Larry Taylor, Ron Weaver, Stuart McKim, Bill Kelleher, Mike Layng, and Chris Jenneiahn.
A special presentation from Dan Mc Phearson was given on the shoot he is going to be giving on Sept. 21st. It sounds like it is going to encompass numerous types of guns and is a “hands on” event.
Treasurer’s report: We are fiscally sound and have a membership that has risen to 542 members.
Allison Geisler reported on the Bar-B-Q for Sept. 17th . All members are encouraged to bring their families out for this event. The pig roast is provided by the club and participating folks are to bring either a side dish or dessert plus lawn chairs. If the weather cooperates, it will be held on the trap range. If inclement weather, we will be in the clubhouse. Please call Allison to tell her how many in your family are attending. Her number is 403-3319. The time is 5PM to 8PM.
Butch DeForest reminded folks that Simons auction has a gun auction starting at 10AM on the 17th .
Committee Reports:
Lower covered Range- Mike Layng reported that new gongs have been placed on this and other ranges. He said that we need more 6” and 8” gongs.
Indoor Range- Mike Katseanes now has posted the calibers allowed in this range. Please read and heed what is allowed. Also remember the sign-in sheet is to be filled out.
Trap range- Bill Kelleher reported that the cable that is now above ground needs to be buried.
Calendar- Larry reported that he now has the times as well as events posted on the calendar.
Several new members were given membership tonight.
Other business: A question about the safety of the ramp to the clubhouse was brought up. This will be looked at. Having snow fence put up for snow in the winter was discussed seeing as we are hoping for full year use of the range. We have the fencing and will look into this.
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Jenneiahn, secretary
