President’s Message

We are sponsoring the free “Site in Day” again on Saturday, September 26th. We are doing it from 9:00 A. M. to 4 P. M. Please let us know if you can help. We will be providing lunch, Burgers and hot dogs, for all that come. If you can please bring a side dish to help out.

We are also having the closing social for the shot guns shooters on the 26th. We will begin shooting at 10:00 A. M and have lunch afterwards. All those that have shot 10 rounds of either trap or sporting clays are invited to shoot. We will have regular trap and sporting clays and also have some fun games to play. It should be a great time.

As you can see from the minutes, we have some projects that we are considering. If you have any ideas to make improvements to the club, please let us know.

We are getting into hunting season and see more people at the range. Please be courteous and help when you can. Thanks for all that is being done. I look forward to seeing you at the range.

MINUTES of September 2, 2015 Meeting

The meeting was opened at 7 PM by president Gordon Wankier. Board members present: Gordon Wankier, Mike Layng, Terry Hansen, Larry Taylor, Gene Davids, Randy Shiokashi, Stuart McKim, Bill Kellaher, Mike Curnutt, and Chris Jenneiahn.

Several new members were introduced and informed that they would be given a range orientation following the meeting.

The web site was discussed. We were informed that the new web site would be up and functioning in the near future. There would be a trial period so everyone who regularly inputs information would be able to see how this would work. Mike T. is the developer of the site and has met with several of our board members and accepted suggestions as to what will be needed.

We need a new club brochure. The old one is extremely outdated. Ross McCullen has taken pictures and we will view these at our next meeting and choose what we will use on the new brochures.

SITE IN DAY!!!! Our annual Sight In Day for club members and the community will be held on National Hunting and Fishing Day, the 4th Saturday of September. This year this will be the 26th of September. Our range will be open from 10 to 4. We will need people to help, so if you are able to capable help, show up on the range that day. Larry, Gordon, Craig, Mike L., Rod J. are already planning on helping, but more help would be good.

Shotgun Championships- Last year the shotgun championships were held the same day as our sight in day and this seemed to work well, so this year we are again having it on the same day. Meats will be provided by the gun club, so bring a dish to pass- salad or dessert. There has been talk of using a different method of determining who is awarded prizes for this year. A handicap method was discussed, thereby allowing several people to win awards.

The question of grant availability was brought up. Chris will get together with Rod C. and see what we can do for next year.

Wish List- A wish list has been compiled by members of the gun club. They are listed as they were offered, not in order of priority-

1. Upgrade indoor range for higher caliber

2. Install a keyless entry system

3. Install motion detector cameras on strategic areas on the range

4. Build an addition to the upper range for black powder gun cleaning

5. Expand the sprinkler system to cover the outdoor .22 range

6. Place pea gravel in front of the lower covered range out to about 25 yards

7. Extend the berm between the lower covered range and the .22 range
