November Newsletter 2017

November President’s Message

Thanksgiving is only a short time away. Family and friends will be gathering to enjoy food and company. It is a great time to be thankful for what we enjoy and where we live. During this time when many will be going out to the gun range to shoot a few rounds with family, remember to be patient and remember safety, always.

The 5 Stand courses are up and running. A Red course is for beginner and recreational shooters, and the Blue course is for more challenging targets. We will be open for the public on Saturdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, or when there are no more shooters. There are also options for members to shoot during the week. Please contact us to set you up on the new Target Manager System to do so.

It is also that time of year to renew your club membership. Please go online to CedarHillsGunClub.org, then click on the Renew Membership 2018 link and pay on line. For those who wish not to use a credit card on line, contact our Club Secretary, Chris Jenneiahn at (208) 681-3584 and she will arrange with you to pay for your membership dues. Remember, your gate card will not be activated after December 31st, 2017 until dues are paid.

Hope and wish all a safe coming days as we go into the holiday season.

Thank you,
Jed Taylor
President

Cedar Hills Gun Club

Minutes of Nov. 1, 2017

Board members present: Jed Taylor, Rod Cross, David Davids, Ron Weaver, Bill Kelleher, Jake Black and Chris Jenneiahn.

Treasurer’s Report: We have about $48,000 in our savings and checking account.

Committee Reports;

Upper Range- David reported that they had a problem last month with someone putting gravel on the firing line. It has been removed. Also, the wind flag needs to be replaced.

Lower rifle range- we still need someone to take oversight of this range.

.22 range- Chuck said that they will start the winter league on December 7th. It will last for 12 weeks, starting at 5 and ending about 7:30 to 8 PM.

Outdoor pistol ranges- Just a reminder- There is a 10 yard limit on these ranges!!! Safety is a huge factor!!!

Indoor Range- Chuck and company have painted and spackled this range so it looks brand new!! Let’s keep it that way with no cartridges being shot that are prohibited. Please look at the list provided.

Sporting Clays- The machines have been moved to the Indoor 5 Stand range. There are 2 courses of fire, a red course for those beginning and learning and a blue course for competition shooting.

Calendar- Larry is doing a fine job of keeping up to date.

Renewal of memberships- Postcards will be sent out this week announcing the opportunity to renew on line if you choose. If you don’t want to renew on line, call Chris and you can renew by mail.

New improvements to the clubhouse have been made by Fairchild Construction. John is working on a lifetime membership and has already insulated and made sure the water lines do not freeze this winter.

NRA Grant- The grant was submitted and the grant committee asked for additional information. This was forwarded to the committee. We do not anticipate any feedback from the grant committee until the end of January.

New members were introduced.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30.

Respectfully submitted,
Chris Jenneiahn
