June President’s Message
June is starting out with drier days, but it’s a bit breezy! The shared comment is “That’s Idaho Weather.” But sitting here in my office today, and looking out the window, it appears to be a beautiful day. With the past moisture we’ve had and now warmer days, the weeds are again appearing everywhere. Please take a minute while you’re out there shooting, to reach down and pull a few. Every little bit helps.
The Clubhouse construction is about complete. The indoor bathrooms will be appreciated, especially since we will now be able to use them year round. The new furnace will also make year round use of our clubhouse possible. The new tables and chairs will comfortably serve to have enough chairs at meetings as well as for other gatherings. As soon as the bathrooms are finished, the final touch will be painting. All this was due to the grant we received from “Friends of the NRA.”
The construction of concrete steps with an extending concrete pad will soon begin as phase 1 to eventually construct handicap ramps on the Upper Range.
This phase will be funded from a grant from Idaho Fish and Game.
Watch for additional Emails of events coming up soon.
Please remember to always think SAFETY while at the range, and to also pick up after you are finished shooting.
Thank you,
Jed Taylor President
Cedar Hills Gun Club Minutes of June 6, 2018
Board members present: Jed Taylor, Terry Hansen, David Davids, Ron Weaver, Randy Shiosaki, Jake Black, Bill Kelleher, Mike Curnutt, Stuart McKim, and Chris Jenneiahn.
Treasurer’s Report: We have $73,000+ in current assets.
Committee Reports: Upper Rifle range- David reported that much has been done in the way of spring cleaning and trimming on the range. It has been reported that a target is missing from the range. This happened between April and May. If anyone knows anything about it, please contact one of the board members.
Lower Range, .22 Range, and Pistol Range- All are operating and are looking good.
Indoor Range: We are still keeping this range closed pending further action.
Trap: Bill Kelleher reports that the trap range is Open! Shooting starts around 5 PM on Thursday nights. We are getting voice controllers for this range. When they arrive, come out and see how they work!!!
Sporting Clays: Jake reported on a summer league that will start on June 23rd. It will consist of 2 person teams. There will be a Lewis Class format. The cost is $25 per person with money going back as prizes. The top 10 scores will be used from each team. You do not have to shoot this only on Thursday nights.
Web: Terry says he knows there is lots more to do with the web page and will get to it as soon as time allows.
Cipher locks: Jed explained to the members how the new cipher locks will allow a person to access the indoor range, 5 Stand building, and the Sporting Clays range with only using one card. The bid for doing this was approved by the board and should be in operation by the next monthly meeting.
CMP- a question was asked about our membership in the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Our membership lapsed due to no interest, but Chris will look into reactivating our membership.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:24
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Jenneiahn, secretary
