5 Stand transition to Sporting Clays
The Sporting Clays/5 stand committee would like to notify all members that the final weekend of indoor shooting will be this Saturday, April 29th. The hours will be from 10:00 until 2:00. This is your last chance to shoot a 25 on the notorious “blue” course, somebody has to do it! We have had a great first winter but with the longer days and (hopefully) improving weather it is time to move to our outdoor sporting clays course.
The committee has been working hard to extend our outdoor course to minimize conflicts with other users. The official opening of the course will be Saturday, May 6th at the conclusion of the range clean-up day. The course will open at 1:00 pm. Thursday evening, May 11th will still be the “official” sporting clays night with shooting starting at 6:00 pm. The member cost will be $12 for a round of 50 targets, or a 10 round, members only, punch card can be purchased for $110. Non-members are $17 per 50 clay round or $30 for 100, in the same day. Youth member shooters (16 and under) will be $10 per round of 50, non-member youth will be $12 per round of 50. Memberships are available! We now have the ability to take debit or credit cards.
The new course will start west of the upper rifle range, plan on parking at the upper range after you check in at the target shack. The trail has been improved so that it is UTV friendly, but there are still narrow spots, a couple of tight corners and one “blind” hill. Please yield to uphill traffic. It is a work in progress!
Our course won’t remain static, we will try to reset the stations about every 3 weeks. We will plan some “fun” shoots again this summer, and the committee hopes to have at least one registered shoot. In addition, for the Thursday night shooters we are going to have a “Lewis” class league for those that wish to participate, watch for details to follow.
Looking forward to seeing everyone shooting!
James Martin
Sporting Clays Chairman
